Our amazing volunteers operate from Dundee to Norwich, Cornwall to Northern Ireland and everywhere in between. Rooted in the heart of their local communities, they deliver hygiene essentials to community partners such as food banks, schools and shelters throughout the UK.
The role can vary from collecting donations to weighing and sorting products to funding applications and shouting about the project on social media, but our volunteers all have one common cause which is a passion for tackling hygiene poverty in the UK.
We asked our volunteers what inspires them to volunteer at The Hygiene Bank:
“It’s incredibly rewarding to work with local community partners such as schools, who really know the families they are supporting and go the extra mile to help them build brighter futures. I’ve met so many inspirational people through volunteering at The Hygiene Bank.”
“Being a role model to my children is important as I want to demonstrate that we should think about others who are less fortunate and actually do something about it. My team of volunteers are all so different and so wonderful in what they each bring to our group. They have all become great friends.”
“I volunteer as it is an opportunity to link those who are currently willing and able to donate hygiene items with the people in the same community who currently need them. Such a simple concept that maintains dignity and confidentiality for everyone involved.”
“I have loved using my skills to educate and raise awareness within a community that perhaps is oblivious to the pockets of deprivation on their doorstep.”
“I love it because I have met so many wonderful people who run amazing projects in our community. The best bit for me is taking a delivery to a community partner and knowing that, the hygiene items will be passed on quickly and respectfully and will make a real difference.”
“We all have the power to make a positive impact in our local communities and The Hygiene Bank provides a great platform to empower us to help make this happen. By collecting donations locally and distributing locally, we can clearly see the impact our volunteering makes in our communities.”
